Virtual Audience

ABC 20/20:  POPE FRANCIS CONNECTING WITH AMERICAN AUDIENCE IN CHICAGO, LOS ANGELES AND MCALLEN FROM THE VATICAN.  

 ABC NEWS DAVID MUIR - MODERATOR.

David Muir spoke first with the Holy Father in Spanish.  He probably took the subject in high school.  He took over the anchor chair from Diane Sawyer a year ago, maintaining number one in prime time news.  A big scoop for him -- this special interview with the pope.

Bullied because of her vitiligo in Chicago.   Pope Francis asked her to sing for him and was courageous enough.  Michael Jackson had vitiligo, though not bullied, and was famous for his singing.

 A former homeless single mother in Los Angeles with her two children,  praised by the pope for not aborting them.
A single father in McAllen, Texas
A young  illegal immigrant from Mexico

 A nun from Sacred Heart Church in McAllen picked by the pope in the audience and praised for her work with illegal immigrants.

    WHAT! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? WHY ARE ABC NEWS STAFFERS BADMOUTHING MY FAVORITE NEWS ANCHOR DAVID MUIR? HE'S JUST DOING WHAT'S BEST. I THINK DIANE SAWYER WAS SECOND TO NBC NIGHTLY NEWS ALSO. THESE PEOPLE ARE JUST JEALOUS BECAUSE HE'S YOUNG AND HANDSOME.

    THE ABC 20/20 SPECIAL ON POPE FRANCIS WAS A FIRST. NO ONE THOUGHT OF HAVING A VIRTUAL AUDIENCE WITH A POPE BEFORE. WHO THE HELL CARE ABOUT RATINGS? CBS NEWS IS ALWAYS IN THIRD PLACE BUT NO ONE IS COMPLAINING OVER THERE IN YEARS. MAYBE. I LIKE CBS NEWS WITH THE NEW GUY. DICKERSON, IS IT? HE'S GOOD, BUT I CAN ONLY WATCH ONE.

    BEYOND FACE VALUE: DAVID MUIR, 41, GRADUATED MAGNA CUM LAUDE IN BACHELOR OF ARTS AT ITHACA COLLEGE. HE ALSO STUDIED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SALAMANCA IN SPAIN WHERE HE LEARNED SPANISH. HE'S FLUENT IN ARABIC ALSO.
