ALT Spring Meeting Sun Wah 2010

MAY 7, 2010
Hello ALT Officers, Members, Honorary Members, and Friends:
Spring is here and the temperature is rising.  With downsizing and with less than enough people, we've been working hard in the lab.  It's time to get-together and dine at Sun Wah Restaurant - 1134 W. Argyle St, Chicago -  they cook the best Peking duck outside of Beijing.

So request this date from your lab schedule: May 7th, Friday, 5:00 pm until you quack-quack!

Constant Traveler Machu Picchu

MACHU PICCHU, PERU
This is really and truly an awesome wonder, Tina.  Thanks for e-mailing.  The closest I got to see it big was in Indiana Jones & the Crystal Skull.  Or was it filmed in a Hollywood lot?  In my opinion the best and most complete history of Machu Picchu was shown by PBS.  I don't have cable.  Why do I need cable when I have PBS and other regular channels?
Thanks!

George W. Bush Presidential Center

I got this card with personal message from George W, my favorite President of all-time.  The reason being we think alike 100 per cent.  I made a teeny-weeny contribution to his center but I guess the envelope was lost in the usps.  One time I mailed a Christmas card to a relative in Texas and it did not get there at all.  But when it comes to delivering those grocery store ads and junk mails, they never get lost.  Oh, well.
I just saw him on TV, in Haiti seeing for the first time the devastation and destruction of the God-forsaken place.  Amidst all that, a few Haitians had the time demonstrate and protest. What ingrates!
Anyway, George W was cool and ignored those crazy fools.  .

Brussels Belgium

NOTHING BUT SWEET MEMORIES OF THAT CUTE LITTLE LOST BOY, THE MANNEQUIN PIS.  He's got a lot of costumes made and giving folks from all over the world.  My neighbor used to have a 2-feet statue in front of his house.  It disappeared a few weeks later.

It's about 10 pm in Brussels: we decided to do a little sightseeing after eating our delicious dinner at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Birthday Greetings to ALTPresident

The birthday celebration week of  self, ALTPresident, is over. The day before March 11, my financial advisor sent me this birthday card -  it's a great reminder for the thought did not enter my mind. It's very uplifting, indeed.
I also got a personal call from Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White while celebrating at L. Wood's Restaurant greeting me a happy birthday and many more.  My friend Gaye B had his private line.  May I add he's a long, long time and great and loyal friend of the Filipino community in Chicago.  I just renewed my driver's license and it took 30 minutes only to wait.  A good job he's doing as Secretary of State.

My thanks to family for the gifts of money and 2010 United States Mint (Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set), 2010 American Veterans Disabled for Life Commemorative Silver Dollar (2).  What a nice addition to my coin collection.
Special thanks to my generous friends:
Susan: Gift of pork belly adobo, tilapia, apple cake, atchara and cheese pimiento and treat at Furama Restaurant.
Sofie: Gift of Peking Duck, Roast Pork and Best Buy Gift Certificate
Mila (ALT PRO): Gift of cake, leche flan and Target Gift Certificate
Vicky (3rd ALT VP): Flower ring
Gaye B (ALT Honorary Member): Nine West bag

Foreign Born Political Observer [FBPO] Conservative Principles

  • YES, I'M POINTING FINGERS! There's no one to blame with what's happening now but the majority of American fools who voted for the Democrats in both houses of Congress in 2006 and Obama for President in 2008.  I'll  keep on nagging until the end of time.  I knew with my gut instinct and sixth sense that voting for Obama, who had very little experience in business and common conservative sense, would be able to push for his grandiose schemes of health and social changes.  I repeat, he got elected because of the color of his skin and hypes by his liberal friends in the academia and mainstream media.  The $500 million contributed by the labor unions to his political campaign chest was quite obscene in my opinion.  Obama was the enemy of capitalism, you see.
Any Republican in Congress who would vote for ObamaCare ought to think this: You are also the chosen representative of the rest of American people.  Why in the world would you provide healthcare to 40 million people who are not too poor, who are young and healthy, who are illegal aliens, and who for other reasons only God knows?  Let me tell you something...yes, when I was young I had health insurance.  I know this is so ridiculous to say, I did not use it all with the exception of annual check-up.  I think the status quo now of small and big companies providing reasonable health care per se for their employees is pretty good!  The government should focus one by one, little by little on the reform of how pharmaceutical companies, health insurances, hospitals and clinics, in budgeting, managing cutbacks and kickbacks,  Each state should be conservative and not liberal in their spending.  Cut the waste, people!
Socialism is not the solution.  It's different stroke for different folks.  The only way is the Conservative Way.  I'm not suffering while everybody else is suffering.  Why? Because I'm a Conservative Republican.

Reminder of 6 Conservative Principles: [My own priority]
1.  Personal Responsiblity [ Encourage responsible behaviour by individuals and families, and encourage them to provide for their own health, safety, education, moral fortitude, or general welfare]  I encourage myself, I live within my means.  I save.
2.  Individual Freedom [Increase opportunities for individuals or families, without hindrance or coercion from government, how to conduct their own lives and make personal choices]
3.  Stronger Families [Enhance the traditional American family and its power to rear children without excessive interference from the government] Charity begins at home.  Share the wealth with your poor relatives.  Borrow money from your rich relatives not from banks with high interests.
4.  Lower Taxes [Promote individual responsibility in spending, or reduce taxes or fees]
5.  Less Government [Reduce government regulations, or the size of government, eliminate entitlements, or cut out unnecessary programs]
6.  Domestic Tranquility And National Defense [Enhance American Security without unduly burdening civil liberty].
