TIDBITS....Bits of tidings to one and all wherever you
are!  The ALT News Potpourri is getting longer and longer.  It's time
for the coming year to turn a new page with a new message all the time.  In
the laws of human and nature, there are 3 constants: Change, death and
taxes.

Alias Bedimpled....Top Spies Girl
Jennifer Garner of our favorite ABC TV show Alias had a lovable baby girl  named Violet a few weeks ago.   I overheard from
devoted fan Luz M at the Christmas party at Kaibigan (Filipino word for
'friend') that it's the last season of Alias
because of low rating.   Mila A and I were disappointed, too.  So
the show is on permanent covert operation with the series ending in May.
I, myself, don't have any illusion about the longevity of spy shows much as
it's the only show I watch on ABC.   How much story line can you write
about it?  I don't watch long reality shows (except the finales), sit-coms
and that much-hyped stupid silly sexy Desperate
Housewives.  Aren't you sick yet of them desperate actresses
being hyped and sold in the media?  Who knows?  Maybe there will be a
Baby Alias TV show someday.

I
Spy
....Why am I the only one that knows the deep mind of
President Bush?  I'm for everything that he does - 100 percent!  We are at war on terror and I want him to keep me safe
and secure from evil people.  And some of these evil people are among
us.  You know, every time the Dems and self-righteous individual yell
" It's Unconstitutional ! " on anything, be it torture, prison camps and you
name it, I go to my book of the U.S. Constitution and I don't see a thing of the
hell of what they are talking about.  I'm good-looking but not
stupid!  What did Harry Truman do when he dropped the Atomic Bomb on Japan?
Were there peace activists in front of the White House?  During World War
II, were there protestors in Germany? I don't know and who cares then and now!
The founding fathers gave to the American people the Constitution as the
bible of democracy but like the Holy Bible, it's subject to interpretation and
misinterpretation.  The Patriot Act which is expiring at the end of this
month should be renewed because it is one of  the safety tools in
building a secure nation.  It's very necessary.

Global
Warming
....I bet you there were no environmental wackos 30
billion years ago.  Guess what?!  We're still here.

Purple
Finger....The citizens of
surrounding Middle Eastern countries must be very envious of Iraq.  Its
democracy is unstoppable! As a foreign-born American citizen, there's always
that great feeling of satisfaction every time I vote for my favorite
politicians.  Also,  I am so proud of  all American soldiers
serving and bringing happy faces to war-torn children by giving them candies and
toys.  We are all tapped out in charity giving but I tried to send a little
to USO and Help Hospitalized Veterans.  One
of my wishes is for them to come home safe and whole!

Christmas is love

Christmas is peace

It's time to rejoice

In the goodness we
see.

  3. I read in the Wall Street Journal that the search engine Google has 47% of the market while MSN has 19%.  I asked my sis why the discrepancy.  She said almost all of school children and college students use Google.  Microsoft has been donating a lot of computers to schools and libraries.  It's just about fair and good to stipulate for Microsoft to ask that their search engine be used, don't you think?

  4. We are being left behind, thanks to the
    Democrats!
The US Senate just buried the oil exploration of
Alaskan tundra to the dismay of Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska who's been fighting
for permission to dig for 20 years!

I have here my Indo-Pak files:

Chairman Alexey Miller Borisovich, chairman of
Gazprom, visited Pakistan with a 10-member high delegation.  Gazprom
is the world's largest gas producing company with over 20 percent share in
global gas production.  Gazprom with TotalFinelf of France and Malaysian
Petronas is the major shareholder of Iranian South Pars Field, from which Iran
will supply gas to Pakistan and India through the pipeline to be constructed at
a cost of $7 billion.  The Russian energy giant is leading and active
player in the consortium to lay the 1,659 mile gas pipeline from Iran to India
through Pakistan.  This time India is backing Gazprom to be part of the IPI
(India-Pakistan-Iran) project.  The IPI project is expected to yield
between $8 billion and $21 billion in transit fee to Pakistan over a period of
30 years for allowing use of its territory to carry the gas pipeline.
Pres. Musharraf and PM Aziz signed a memo of understanding for Gasprom's
investment in the pipeline, gas storage, privatization program and LNG
business.  Pakistan had established through Gazprom in the early 1960s its
largest exploration and development company, now called the Oil and Gas
    Development Company Limited.

  5. GONE
    POSTAL....

Every year, around this time, the US Postal Service always do this to me.
I learned my lesson, so I mailed my Christmas cards to distant relatives and
    friends early - not December 20, not December 15 but....December 10.  The
weather was quite nice, there was no blizzard.  And how long may I ask does
it take for your dearest loved ones to get your cards?  You expect
5-7 days out of state, right?  But....NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!  When I called
by December 25, the folks said they did not get my beautiful cards.  Last
year, they did not get my cards until January 3rd of the next year! Let me tell
you, I re-learned my lesson so next year I'll send the cards December
    1st.

    CREDIT
    CARDS....

I intend to cancel some of my credit cards as soon as possible.  I have
been thinking of doing this but being a lazy procrastinator, I just don't get
around to doing it.  You see, everything that's not convenient is
too hard for me.  I have to sit down and diligently check which of my
cards have the lowest finance charges.  Banks that issued my credit cards
have merged under one umbrella and it's not good management to have all these
cards and pay the now one issuer at different times (I like the old-fashioned
way of paying - through the mail).

It's just confusing, this bank merging.  I have all these CDs (Certificate
of Deposits) in different banks.  Then they merged! They may have
matured at one time or another and I may have missed on a better interest upon
renewal.  I have copies but I'm just too lazy to check the maturity
    dates.  I did finally checked - there's a CD maturing in 2008!
Now, I don't recall getting a 5-yr term!  Maybe, it was automatically
renewed by the bank and I was not informed because of the merging.  So, I
learned my lesson.  It will be my New Year's resolution to be careful with
    my hard-earned money.

  6. The Bush Administration and the Justice Dept. should pursue at all cost the person or persons who leaked the domestic spying and wire-tapping to the New York Times. It's a traitorous attack against our national defense.  Newspaper people are so arrogant forsaking and endangering the security of American citizens by telling the terrorists and the whole world how the US conduct counter-intelligence. An investigative effort should be made just like in the Valerie Plame spy leak case

  7. I lost some of my memorable shots of Crete & Kusadasi.
I brought my Fuji film to be developed to a CVS Pharmacy near my house.  A friend told me go to Walgreens or Osco Photo Center they do good job there.  But I did not listen.  Well, CVS did ruin my film - the whole frickin' roll damaged.  It turned out the Fuji roll was not applicable with their Kodak machine.  I'm still upset although I was compensated for the loss.
Lesson learned: Go to a camera store not pharmacy.

  10. Dear Cautious Credit User:

I just  found this out being a slow thinker.  It's about my credit
history that's in a database somewhere.  All these years I've been paying
my credit charges in full to avoid high finance charges.  So far so good I
    thought - excellent record.

              Then
some months ago I paid one credit card company, who shall remain nameless, past
the due date because I was out of the country and did not get back on
time.  So this one time late payment was recorded and sent to my credit
history database.  I'll tell you why this is very damaging, this one time
missed payment.  Everything is lumped and bundled in one basket.  I
found it out by chance when I was inquiring about another questionable billing
statement from my VISA card.  I asked the person on the line why the extra
charge when I paid it all in full?  The person said, "....because you're
always late in your payment."  I said, "WHAT!  But I always pay on
    time and in full!"

I tell you, folks.  Watch out!  Once is more than enough for these
credit card issuers.  But you know what, one of these days....WHAM!! POW!!!
I'm just biding my time in canceling these credit cards.

I can do fine and dandy without them, thank you!

  14. Shocking, just shocking!

I have not been to Dunkin'
Donuts for a long long time.  I prefer
    Krispy Kreme because their donuts
stay soft and fresh for 3 days while Dunkin's get hard in few hours.  I can
    eat 6 Krispy Kreme
donuts ($3.99 at Jewel) in one seating but I kind of stretch it out 2 per
day - you know limit the calories and give my body time to assimilate the sugar
    - something like that..

I was on my way home early Sunday morning and
stopped by in Dunkin' Donuts which was just conveniently nearby.  Imagine
my surprise!  The French cruller, my favorite, I ordered was so
small!  Just half the size of what it used to be!!

I felt I did not get my money's worth and got
    screwed.

    Yucky!

  15. SOONER OR LATER...things will be answered.  As you
folks know, I'm a very nosy person.  I want to know why, when, what, where
and how.  Last week, I was listening to Rush Limbaugh on www.rushlimbaugh.com  Chicago radio
and I tell you he's the one to bring it on....on anything.   If you
were a traveler, you'd know what I'm talking about.   Many years ago,
I used to go to LA a lot to visit my parents.    Airline pilots would
show on the screen the plane taking off and landing.  I said, wow, cool!
Then they didn't show it anymore.  Just gone! Well, Rush answered my once
in a while musing of why after 20 years or so.  A lawyer passenger
threatened to sue because of what he saw the pilot was doing - something like
endangering the passengers.  Rush is an insider and a researcher.
He's in the know.  Also, he doesn't like phones like me.  He's so
right on - every time you pick up the phone someone wants something from
    you!  Rush is always right.

BAND ON THE RUN....Chicago Radio WLS 890 band am www.wlsam.com
answers my silent wondering of why? I was watching the Christmas Midnight Mass
by Cardinal George on WGN TV 9 when there was yelling and shouting at the ending
of the Mass.  I said to myself, self, what could that be?  I was
curious.  The next day or so, WLS reported it was a woman who caused the
distraction and was taken out of the cathedral for disturbing a religious
event.  I wonder what's her cause.  Maybe she's just plain
    wacko.

  16. It was a former NSA employee that leaked the spy thing.  Isn't there a confidentiality agreement?  If so, does it end when you're fired?  NSA should cut his government pension.
He's called a patriot by New York Times.

  20. I have never trusted so called REBATE by companies from
the very beginning but just for the heck of it I suckered myself into trying it
last December and again in January from another store.  Well, I'm
right as usual.  It said in the receipt I'll get my REBATE in 4-6
weeks.  But no such REBATE coming my way in the mail.  I should have
gotten my REBATE between January 12 - 26.  Then after 4 weeks, I got an
e-mail from the company  to allow 8-10 weeks.  And then again last
week,  I got a message to allow  2 weeks for my past due REBATE.
    What date is today?

I tell you my dear relatives and friends, it will be
the first and last time for me.  RUN away when you see a REBATE on
    advertised sales.

  21. I got my REBATE one week early (9 weeks).  Upon
further perusing the small prints, it said I'll get my REBATE in 10 to 12 weeks
not 4 to 6 weeks.  It's a good thing I did not mention the name of the
    company.

I stand corrected but I blame it on my

  23. As you know my dearest friends and relatives all over
the United States and the world that I'm a night owl and don't get my zzzzz
until the wee hours of the morning.  Thursday morning, June 8, I was
listening to Coast to Coast, WLSam Chicago http://www.wlsam,com
, radio host & UFO aficionado Art Bell who's now living in the Philippines
was being interviewed by George Noory when there was a breaking news - terrorist
Zarqawi is dead.  This was around 1:53 am for I looked at the clock.
What a scoop for ABC News correspondent Martha Radditz, fellow reporters
and producers.  They'll probably get a distinguished press award for
this.  Really and truly this was a humongous victory against the war in
Iraq.  He was mainly the brainiac for planning so many successful suicide
and IED bombings of US troops (more than 2,480), beheadings, the killing of
6,000 innocent civilians and fellow Jordanians, although if the critics and
enemies from within (Liberals, Soros, Democrats Durbin, Murtha, Edwards,
Biden) and outside (Human Rights groups) of Commander-in-Chief Bush
would say it was the US military who is killing these Iraqi folks.
Bull!  In the end, Zarqawi got caught in the dragnet planned and executed
by a far superior force, the mighty might of U.S.A.  I was full of
    happiness and great joy!

Going back to Coast to Coast,
I felt good of how Art Bell drew a picture of what he's experiencing
in the Philippines - that how Filipinos love Americans in general (I must
tell you they don't know of him as a popular radio host in the US), that
he's living in the plush rich suburb of Makati where diplomats live, that
he's newly-married to a young Filipina (he's 61 but young at heart), and that it
would take him a long time and maybe never in my opinion to drive in the cut and
throat world of driving in Metro-Manila where there are no traffic rules of law
and stop lights.  It looks like he's having a fun honeymoon with his wife
    and the Filipinos to boot.

I love peanuts especially boiled peanuts.  I did
not eat anything when I was driving with the folks through peanut land Georgia
from Alabama.  Mr. Peanuts who's celebrating his 100th birthday was a
guest of Martha Stewart on her Emmy Award winning show some weeks ago.  I
have my special recipe which can't be found anywhere else except in few Filipino
stores.  It's so expensive I now made it myself.  What I'd do is chop
and press a few cloves of garlic, fry in a pan with just about amount of oil
until brown or dark brown, and put 19.2 oz. of any brand dry roasted
peanuts.  Mix for a few minutes and add salt to taste.  Cool.
It's a good snack while watching Judge Judy, Jeopardy!, and People's
Court.  I finish the whole thing just like that!

    Happiness is when what you
think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.
