PABLO PICASSO
He was born in Malaga, Spain in 1881.  His painting Le Demoiselles d' Avignon marked the beginning of Cubism movement.  I know a Picasso when I see one.  The reproduction of Guernica was very popular and in numbers alone, his productions have seldom been matched.  The painting, done in 1937, pictures the horror of the Spanish revolution.  In April 1937, Generalissimo Francisco Franco ordered the German bombers to destroy the Spanish town of Guernica.  The total destruction made him angry and inspired him to paint the mural in black and white.  He became a Communist in 1944 because he felt the Communists showed courage in resisting fascism.
