JANUARY 18, 2015 SUNDAY MASS AT RIZAL PARK (LUNETA)
More than 6 million Filipinos braved the inclement weather and attended the concluding papal mass of Pope Francis. To many, the rain from above was like a baptismal blessing of Holy Water. It was also the Feast of Santo Niño, celebrated every third week of the month, and many of the faithful present were holding their beloved statue. An astute observer said that the Philippines may be a third world country when it comes to material possessions but it is a first world country when it comes to spirituality. The Filipinos live by faith and song. Wherever Filipinos go, they go with God. In every country of the world, Filipinos are devoted to the Catholic and Universal Church; singing glory and praise to "our" God.
