FAVORITE FOOTBALL STAR AND ONCE DENVER QUARTERBACK TIM TEBOW, 27, WAS BORN IN THE PHILIPPINES. DOES THAT MAKE HIM A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN OF THE PHILIPPINES AND AN AMERICAN? His parents are long-time missionaries serving the folks in Mindanao and had great love and passion for the Filipino people.
He has opened the Tebow CURE hospital in Davao City, in southern Philippines. The five-story facility has received its official operating license and opened its doors on December 12, 2014. The hospital, built in partnership with CURE International, is the result of several years of planning and hard work. It has 30 beds and three operating rooms. A team of 54 staffers has been hired to see patients. Physicians are already seeing children with critical orthopedic needs. It will also provide spiritual and emotional care as well. Tebow said, "It is so exciting to be able to provide healing and care for these incredibly deserving children halfway around the world."
The hospital is one facet of the Tim Tebow Foundation. The Florida-based organization also include "Timmy's Playrooms" in children's hospital, the WI5H program, and Orphan Care, a program that provides grants to families adopting children with special needs.
It has been a busy month for the handsome Tebow, voted by PEOPLE's as one of the Sexiest Men Alive and turned ESPN TV sport analyst. He surprised shoppers by paying off their layaway bills as part of Good Morning America segment.
