Two esteemed members of The
Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences
confirmed the nomination of Filipino
Professor Edgar E. Escultura for the 2005 NOBEL PRIZE FOR
PHYSICS.  He used to live in the Chicago area from 1971 to 1981 and is now
teaching mathematics at the University of the Philippines.   He earned
his PhD at the University of Wisconsin in 1970.  Dr. Lars Jonhagen said in
an e-mail to Escultura: "You, sir, have demonstrated such high level of
understanding of Physics and, as such, your nomination is very special."
Another academy member, Dr. Johannes Hieber told the lucky nominee, "we
have read your work on the GRAND UNIFIED THEORY and deem it worthy of a
nomination for the
NOBEL PRIZE FOR PHYSICS."

The GRAND UNIFIED THEORY (also known as the
THEORY OF EVERYTHING) has been somewhat of a Holy Grail of modern physics.
The genius Albert Einstein spent the last 30 years of his life trying to
formulate the GUT with no success.  Since then, many physicists led by
Stephen Hawking, the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge, and Roger
Penrose, professor of mathematics at Oxford, have been working on GUT for
years.

Mr. Escultura was in the news recently for
having disproved Dr. Andrew Wiles' "proof" of Fermats Last Theorem.  Last
May, he received the Michel Prize from the University of Luynes in France, for
his work on analysis and foundations of mathematics.  The award was
bestowed on him by Professor J. Raymond, who, as it happens, is also a nominee
for the NOBEL PRIZE FOR PHYSICS.

All Filipinos are congratulating Professor
Edgar E. Escultura for this once in a lifetime honor.

  1. UH-OH! I KNOW AMERICAN SNIPER IS GOING TO LOSE WHEN BEST PICTURE PRESENTER SAID A FILM DIDN'T HAVE TO BE A BIG BOX OFFICE HIT. LAST YEAR FILM GRAVITY (SANDRA BULLOCK AND GEORGE CLOONEY) WAS THE MOST BORING OF ALL THAT I'VE EVER SEEN.
