@ Dean Cito

Thanks for the MHS updates!  It would have been nice for us to visit the school when I was there with Te last February.  But due to time limits and other activities with family and friends, the visit was not meant to be.  All I remember was Mehan Garden and the building annex on top of Clover Theater in Santa Cruz.  One day, I even saw Elizabeth Ramsey standing in front door of the theater smiling at me while I was passing by.  I saw her photo lately in one of her concerts with other singers and performers here in Chicago and she looked the same to me.  As the Goddess of Convenience, I know for sure it will be a long, long time again before I visit my Philippines again.  I remember Mr. Alzona was our principal when we were in high school.  Who's the principal now?  Maybe you've seen these photos, maybe not.  And as you know or may not know, I was politically active during the Bush Administration (George W.), so I was so excited and happy with the great contribution by former US Ambassadors to the Philippines John Negroponte (later US Deputy  Secretary of State) and Kristie Kenney (now US Ambassador to Thailand) appointed by the Bushes when I saw the attached photos published by Sam Esber.  I think Sam Esber is not so active anymore with MHS because he's a seaman???  Anyway I thank Sam Esber for sharing those photos.  It so nice to know the Bush Administration supported our beloved alma mater also.  You know what, I always talk about "The Thomasites," the first American missionary teachers to teach English in the Philippines in the 1900s.  I did not know until a later the school where they first taught was Manila High School!  How about that?!

Have a safe trip to San Francisco.

The photos may have been taken several years back. I cannot recall (forgive the senior citizen) the names of all the people in the photos. I can recognize three of them. Ka ARnul is the Principal at that time. Ms. Magalong is still the MHSGIA liaison officer of MHS for all the MHS alumni groups that are closely working with MHS. Sam Esber was one of the most active members of MHGSIA at that time.

I also went to MHS last week. Some of the improvements are:

- the second floor of the new building that was erected in place of the demolished west wing is now being used as classrooms. The third floor is still being worked on.

- the Alzona Hall is now operational. It was used during the (general assembly) opening of classes.

Thank you.

@ Mildred & All Concern

Thank you for sharing this information with me so that alumni that contributed greatly to the MHSGIA Scholarship Program could be properly acknowledged and very well appreciated for their longtime support and help.  Some people contribute anonymously but I , myself, personally prefer that their names be mentioned and thank them for their donations, whether big or small.  It's the good intention that counts! Just for clarification, as previously noted by Kuya Bernie Soriano '59 that there are no Scholars of Class '82 or '85 (in which he put a ?) at all but in truth there is Class '84, 6 scholars, sponsored by Luth Marasigan '84.  She's a Great Filipino for helping her batch scholars.  No doubt, whatever her faith is, she's been rewarded and being rewarded by God a hundred fold.  Other gifts to the school would be as volunteer, a contributor as guest speaker to scholarship recipients, and more computers.  I don't know when the attached photos were taken - Dean Cito with them.  Please continue to share with me any pertinent information.  I'm a very curious MHSGIA Treasurer being new in the scholarship program.

Hi Ms. Beng,

How come laging Batch 85 name-mentioned sa scholarship never ang Batch 84?  Batch 85 is not supporting any of our scholars not even 1 (not unless they have some that they manage by themselves) while Batch 84 have 6 scholars for 3 yrs now.

Nakakahiya naman ke Luth Marasigan (Batch 84) who is the biggest single sponsor for our scholarship program for 3 consecutive years.

 Please help correct this notion.

Thanks,

Mildred
