Illegal aliens

WHAT CHANGED SINCE THEN?  The wall along the US-Mexico border was partially built and illegals who sneaked in had been deported.  Due to the bad economy with no available jobs around, folks from Mexico and down south sort of stopped coming in.  After all these, there's still the immigration dilemma.

Just like politics, the illegal aliens issue is local.  These local sites or states most affected are on the border of Mexico - Texas, California, Arizona, New Mexico and  even Florida.  However, people from Wisconsin (Sensenbrenner's State) and other states that are not so invaded by illegal aliens felt that they should go back home.   A large number believe that migrants  drain America of jobs and healthcare.  Just a few days ago, 7,000 illegals crossed the southern borders.  The Republicans who are against violation of immigration law and order should continue debating in Congress with the Democrats who are pro-illegals on how to solve this runaway problem.

There should be a law that will punish employers who employ illegal aliens and deport illegal aliens who are caught at the border.  This will partially solve the problem - if there is no job for them, they will think twice in coming here.   According to the Pew Hispanic Center Report 40 % of the respondents said that these illegal aliens should be granted some kind of legal status that allows them to stay, 53% said the illegals should be deported and 32% believed some should be allowed to stay under a temporary working program.

Americans are as usual divided.

THE CALIFORNIA REPUBLIC IS THE 9th LARGEST ECONOMY IN THE WORLD.  It was once a Conservative state.  However, it became socialist-liberal with the influx of poor immigrants from Mexico and South American countries and Asia, including the Philippines in the 1980s.  California is quite generous when it comes to social programs, aids and family welfare.  In Illinois, a family with no bank savings gets a subsidy from Health and Human Services ? of $1000 for apartment rent and only pays $100.  America takes care of her citizens.

  1. I quite agree.  The Republicans and Democrats in Congress should debate like the founding fathers (I like your All President's Women web, by the way) and legislate an updated bill  that is not too harsh and will not put immigrant quotas of other countries like the Philippines into the last line and be displaced.  Many Filipino- American citizens have families and relatives that have been waiting for more than 20 years to come to the United States.  It's not fair at all!  I'm so glad that only few Filipino-Americans are demonstrating with Mexicans and other illegals.

  2. My dear relatives and friends all over the United
States of America and the World:

This is my last jump into the immigration
    issue.

There's a lot of blame to go around with both parties -
    Dems and
Republicans.  Because of politics and business
    there was lack
    of immigration law enforcement.

Years ago, I used to wonder why the INS suddenly
    stopped deporting
illegal aliens.  It reached its peak during
    the Clinton Administration.
The once beautiful and neat apartment building
    where  my parents used
    to live in Los Angeles
had turned into a shabby piece of  real estate
rented by illegals from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and
    other
South American countries played their loud blaring music into
    the middle
of the night.  Thank God my parents were hard of hearing.

Then, a few  weeks ago,  while I was
listening to the big kahuna of
conservatism, the Doctor of Democracy -
Rush Limbaugh, I got my answer.
    Business employers who hired
illegal aliens complained to their state
politicians and the politicians told the INS to stop rounding up their illegal

    alien workers.

Immigration protestors, liberal activists and clerics
    say we are all immigrants
    and potpourri of immigrants
made this country great and powerful.  If I
remember my history, Europeans, Jews and
    other immigrants who pursued
the American Dream  entered the Ellis Island  and the Golden Gate of

    San Francisco </

  3. It's hard to believe that there are 600,000 to one million illegal Filipinos staying in the United States.  The Philippines is so far away across the ocean.  Yes, there's the plane, the plane! The US Embassy in the Philippines is so strict and rigid in accepting visa applications, sponsorship and other documents.  I don't wonder with Mexico to have more than 6 million illegals for they are just across the border....but the Philippines? (:-?)

  4. I read there are 87,000 illegal aliens from the Philippines, not 600,000 or one million.
