I'm not really expecting an immediate response, Kuya Bernie. Anything goes with the weather.  Never apologize.  I don't.

According to PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration) which you headed when you were in the Philippines, the state weather forecasters there are hinting at a wet start to this year's summer because of the La Nina weather phenomenon.  La Nina is a weather phenomenon characterized by a heavy rain.

Seriously, may I suggest that with your high qualification and expertise in geophysics to take the bus or drive to downtown Toronto or local TV station one day and apply for a job as weather consultant or whatever post available and submit your resume.  TV stations have always weathermen who need further understanding in their weather report.  Don't think so?  Do it anyway.

@Lib,

Sorry for replying very late! I got deluded with many surveys just to keep myself occupied and earn even a little amount since I arrived and have been unsuccessful in landing a job here. In any case, I continue to monitor disaster events in the Philippines and try to suggest to my former colleagues at the PAGASA on how they can improve their weather forecasting service.

I posted on FaceBook a video I took of a tv program here in Toronto that constantly shows the weather forecasts, for my friends to adopt a similar arrangement with the local tv networks in the Philippines. Unfortunately, they have not reacted or even commented on my proposal. I strongly believe that doing so will help minimize the damage, most especially the number of casualties and injured persons, during a strong storm, heavy/intense rainfall or flash floods when the people are aware of such hazard well in advance. Most people in urban and semi-urban/rural areas have tv and they can prepare for any hazard if they are aware of it.

I hope and pray that our government will copy this tv format to help our people.

but it didn't stop people to get out of the storm ... so Filipino!

They really love the storm!
Having a nice time and waiting for bigger waves that will carry them into the water

The U.S. Embassy in water ....

More Roxas Blvd damage .... the broken seawall ...

Oh, they survived the waves. Let's wait for the big tsunami!
