Harry Thomas Jr., US Ambassador to the Philippines under the Obama Administration has found himself in hot water with local politicians and even with a Department of Justice judge - for saying 40 percent of male tourists in the Philippines are only after sex with local women and children. These Filipino politicians even told him to pack his bags and go home (if he does not apologize)! He based his facts on records and findings on sex trade and child trafficking by FBI agents working with NBI agents in the Philippines. Ambassador Thomas has found his own diplomatic objectives - to combat child sex, forced labor, and save the poor children of Smokey Mountain (a humongous garbage dump in Manila where poor folks look and dig for salvage and recyclable materials). He and other US diplomats live in the affluent neighborhood of Forbes Park with all the amenities of good living and two or three domestic helpers. It has always been a sad and unfortunate situation that wherever you find poverty and sexy beautiful women and young children, you find sexual predators and pedophiles. This is so unavoidable because Filipino girls are quite attractive, young, beautiful and loyal - they are magnet to many men from the US and Europe seeking marriage and companionship. It is what it is. This has been going on since the beginning of time, biblical and otherwise. This is true all over the world - prostitutions and sex abound in Asia, Africa, Europe and the United States, except Antarctica, I hope? The internet cybersex made such victimization quite easy. Instead of asking for apology, the Philippine government should work with Ambassador Thomas and sex-crime fighters to prevent such abomination from happening by strict screening of passport visas and documents. The singer Chris Brown was just denied visa entry to Great Britain because of his criminal record. The Philippine government and tourism officials should do internet checks of FBI/Interpol lists of known sex predators and their criminal records so they would be able to deny them visa. You'd be surprised how many sex predators are hiding in plainsight in my well-to-do suburban neighborhood (I forgot the website name)! Yuck!
