Holy Week Jesus Crown of Thorns 2014

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO JESUS' CROWN OF THORNS?  Present day Christians have to thank the kings and queens of Europe for being such avid religious relic hunters and collectors.

PASSION OF JESUS! HOLY WEEK IS THE MOST SOLEMN AND SORROWFUL WEEK IN THE CHRISTIAN WORLD.
+March 25  - March 30, 2013+

Garden of Gethsemane - Pope Paul VI Olive Tree

When  Jesus was in his darkest hour of prayer, he was alone.  The Apostles slept instead of praying with him as he asked.  "Jesus said, 'My heart is nearly broken with sorrow.  Remain here and stay awake with me.'  He advanced a little and fell prostrate in prayer."  Matthew 26:38

VIA DOLOROSA (VIA CRUCIS)
"Get rid of all the bitterness, all passion and anger, harsh words, slander, and malice of every kind.  In place of these, be kind to one another, compassionate, and mutually forgiving, just as God has forgiven you in Christ."  Ephesians 4:31-32

Little did they know, when in mockery they placed a crown of thorns upon the head of Jesus, that they were crowning him king of this earth as well as king of heaven.  He now has power over this world.

"Then Peter came up and asked him, 'Lord when my brother wrongs me, how often must I forgive him?  Seven times?'  'No,' Jesus said, 'not seven times; I say, seventy times seven times.' "  Matthew 18:21-22

Jesus was sacrificed on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven.  He forgave the good thief, he forgave the people who crucified him.
"If you bring your gift to the altar and then recall that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift at the altar, go first to be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift."  Matthew 5:23-24

Jesus said, "Pick up your cross and follow me."  The cross was the symbol of death.  For him it was death for the love of others.  "He is the shield of those who walk honestly, guarding the paths of justice, protecting the ways of his pious ones."  Proverbs 2:7-8
"Jesus said, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life.' "  John 14:6

  1. Thank you, Budz, for the pictorial. Now that I have been to Jerusalem, walked part of the Via Dolorosa, seen the Holy Sepulchre, ( I saw the Garden Tomb at Golgotha which to me seem the real place where Jesus was entombed) the Holy Week has more meaning. As a young girl back home, I used to sing the Passion of Christ & ends at 3PM on Holy Friday.
    Happy Easter.
