WHAT A WAY TO TREAT THE FORMER PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT?! Gloria who suffers from life-threatening spondylosis disease is requesting to be under house arrest where she can relax instead of being confined at Veterans Hospital in Quezon City. She deserves a modicum of respect for making the Philippines progressive during her administration as president and later/current Pampanga representative.

Due to her economic policy, growth went up to 20% in 2007 with strong remittance from overseas workers. Her implementation of holiday economic policy and tourism promotion abroad boasted domestic growth. The Philippines was one of the few to avoid the 2008 global financial crisis.
Born on April 5, 1947 she came from an illustrious family in the province of Pampanga - the daughter of former President Diosdado Macapagal. In 1964, she graduated as high school valedictorian at Assumption College, a private Catholic school run by nuns in Manila.
She attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC for two years where her classmate was former US President Bill Clinton. In 1968, back at Assumption College she finished her college education with a B.S. of Economics degree graduating magna cum laude. She was former professor of economics at Ateneo de Manila University in which one of her students was Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, the current Philippine President. She also taught the same subject at the prestigious University of the Philippines and Assumption College.
Young Senator
She's married to her childhood sweetheart Jose Miguel Arroyo, lawyer and businessman. They had three children. Their son Dato is a congressman.
She entered government in 1987, serving the Cory Aquino Administration. Years later she became the Vice-President of former President Joseph Estrada, now the current Mayor of Manila. The Estrada Administration was voted "most corrupt" in the whole world and was the first one of Philippine presidents to go to jail. Days after a tumultuous political demonstration in front of Quiapo Church that was broadcast by BBC all over the world, Gloria took over was sworn as president on January 30, 2001.
Gloria looked pretty in pink - my favorite photo of her
An excellent extemporaneous speaker (she does not need a teleprompter)
