Update 6/3/13: The Greenbay News Chronicle of Wisconsin was defunct in 2004 so the link was broken. In the 70s, Vietnam Veteran John Kerry, now Secretary of State under the Obama Administration, was invited in Congress in testimony of his experience in Vietnam. He became a war activist and was bitter and threw his war medal at the stairs of Congress which was later denied by him?
ReplyDeleteThe war wounds of Vietnam run deep until now and I suppose until forever. War activists like Hanoi Jane (actress Jane Fonda) and John Kerry http://www.wintersoldier.com contributed somehow and helped much to the "defeat" of the Americans in Vietnam because of controversies, constant war protests and demonstrations. I was told Vietnam Vets were not given a parade until 10 years later and a war memorial to honor these surviving heroes until the 90's.
ReplyDeleteMY MUSINGS:
ReplyDeleteThis old page has taken a life of its own since 2004. Yes, some Vietnam vets who are now in their 60s and early 70s suffer from PTSD. Some are still waiting for some kind of compensations from war wounds, mental or physical, after 40 years. I asked a vet why there are 6 suicides a day now with the two wars when you don't hear of this after World War II (I wasn't born yet), Korean War and Vietnam War? I'm not really sure about this subject of military suicides: the soldiers in WWII all volunteered and they are American Americans who were real pioneers and whose parents invested so much for American freedom and liberty, but you don't hear of suicides; the Korean War was shortlived, called the "Fogotten War", but you don't hear of suicides; in Vietnam War there was the dreadful "DRAFT." Some have risen above it with the names like Kerry, and I forgot the name of Secretary of Defence and senators; Is it ridiculous for me to say that the American soldiers of today are of different category in itself, drug-induced in the first place and weak? But then I see soldiers back from war without arms and legs, face scarred and yet I see them to have accepted things as they are and have moved on.
TALKING TO MYSELF: I'm sorry to report that 40 years later, some of our Vietnam veterans are still begging for compensation from their PTSD and Agent Orange effect. They have been denied not only once but twice and worst being discouraged not to re-apply. I was so shocked to see a few days ago that applications by veterans have been deleted by processors. This is very, very bad. How cruel and unkind. So un-American.
ReplyDeleteIn the April 2014 news: 40 vets died while waiting for doctor's visit. This is sad. I was talking to a Vietnam veteran last week who's been waiting for more than a year for his PTSD and Agent Orange applications to be approved by the Veterans Administration. He was crying and saying they were just waiting for me to die! I said to myself, self, these are soldiers who served and protected our liberty freedom. But when it comes to anything else, you name it, things are approved immediately.
ReplyDeleteOBAMA HAS MORE LOVE FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS WHO DID NOT DO A DAMN THING FOR THE PRESERVATION OF LIBERTY AND FREEDOM IN AMERICA THAN THE VETERANS WHO GAVE THEIR ALL TO PROTECT US.
ReplyDeleteDEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE SECRETARY CHUCK HAGEL, A VIETNAM VETERAN, WAS FORCED TO RESIGN TODAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2014. HE BECAME THE SCAPEGOAT OF THE FAILED FOREIGN POLICIES OF THE INCOMPETENT OBAMA ADMINISTRATION - ISIS AND EBOLA AMONG OTHER THINGS. NEVER MIND, ONE MORE MONTH OF CRIPPLED DUCK PRESIDENCY OF OBAMA.
ReplyDeleteVERY GOOD NEWS TO VETERANS AFFECTED BY AGENT ORANGE WAITING TO BE COMPENSATED. : $4 MILLION APPROVED LAST WEEK TO BE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS.
