Imelda Marcos

PHILIPPINE'S STAR AND SLAVE     A FASCINATING OUTSIDER'S STORY ABOUT THE HIGH LIFE (OTHERS CONSIDER IT LOW) AND TIMES OF THE MARCOS FAMILY - FROM RISE TO FALL.  Interesting reading, and nevertheless a bit gossipy.

Yep! Madame Congresswoman Imelda Marcos and Colonel Muammar Qaddafi were very good friends in those days, belonging to the international jet set of rich and famous people.  I believe because of this political and amicable friendship, Filipinos were welcomed to find employment in Libya. I don't know how many OFWs were left now -I think there were 5,000 Filipinos working in Libya.  Right.  You know your friends when at your lowest and in trouble.  I must say, with her past notoriety with the Filipino people and the rest of the world , she had a few loyal friends - tobacco heiress Doris Duke (of Duke University) who remained her very good friend and supporter until she died in Hawaii and Christina Ford of the Ford Family, the godmother of Imee Marcos.  In that case, I'd like to have one or two loyal friends just like Madame Imelda than have many friends who would abandon me when I'm in deep trouble and in dire straits.  Congresswoman Imelda remained true to her friend Qaddafi not only until his death but beyond after life.  Only God knows where this after life will be.  Always remember this, if you know you're dying or at death's door always ask God to forgive all your sins.  It's your only door to the Kingdom of God.

Imelda Marcos files bill honoring Muammar Gadhafi

Former First Lady and current Ilocos Sur Representative Imelda Marcos has filed a bill at the House of Representatives, seeking to honor the late Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi.

Gadhafi was killed today by Libyan revolutionaries.

“Colonel Gadhafi deserves honor because he is Libya’s longest-serving leader,” Marcos told reporters.

“Under Gadhafi, Libya had 10.6% GDP growth — so much higher than 7.6% under Noynoy Aquino. Their population below the poverty line is only 7.6%. Ours is 32.9%.
Why did the rebels murder Gadhafi? They should be thankful for him!” Marcos said.

Reporters asked the former First Lady about human rights abuses committed by Gadhafi’s regime, as well as allegations that the colonel stole close to a trillion dollars from his people.

Marcos responded, “Has Gadhafi ever been convicted of these crimes?”

She then wept, as she hung a picture of herself with the late dictator. Marcos visited Gadhafi twice, in 1976 and 1977, to foster relations with the North African nation.

“I will miss Gadhafi’s kindness,” she said. “I will see him in the afterlife.” —

"Birds of the same feather flock together."     " It takes one to know one."

These old sayings best explains Imelda's melodrama over the death of Khadafy.

Ironically, Imelda unwittingly did not know that Khadafy was playing her for a fool. While Imelda was glowing over her visits to Tripoli, Khadafy was stabbing her in the back by giving full support to the Muslim separatists in the south. Khadafy provided financial and military support to the MNLF and also hosted the Misuari and the MNLF leadership in exile in Tripoli for many years.

Imelda, the old hag, continues to be an embarrassment to decent Filipinos throughout the world.

  1. IT SEEMS TO ME THE UNITED STATES IS ALWAYS BEING BLAMED IN WHATEVER AILS THE PHILIPPINES AND OTHER COUNTRIES. WHERE WOULD THESE COUNTRIES BE WITHOUT THE HELP OF AMERICA, THE MOST GENEROUS COUNTRY ON EARTH?

  2. I SAID TO MYSELF, SELF, IN LOOKING BACK, IT'S JUST SAD WHAT HAPPENED TO LIBYA WITH THE DEATH OF GADHAFI. FOR A WHILE THERE, UNDER THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION, GADHAFI SURRENDERED ALL HIS WEAPONS AND ARMAMENTS AND EVERYTHING WAS PEACEFUL AND QUIET. THEN A NEW US ADMINISTRATION CAME IN WITH NEW FOREIGN POLICIES THAT WERE DISASTROUS TO ALL INVOLVED. LIBYA IS A COUNTRY IN TURMOIL, THOUSANDS OF FILIPINOS LEAVING AND US EMBASSY CLOSING IN TRIPOLI. I LOVE TEDDY ROOSEVELT - HE LOVED TO CARRY A BIG STICK. AMERICA NEEDS SOMEONE LIKE HIM.
