Vigan Ilocos Sur

FINALIST IN 7 WONDER CITIES RACE    The 2014 campaign to push Vigan as one of the 7 wonders to the finish line had just started from July 7 and ends on October 7.  Vigan was a trading port long before the Spaniards arrived in the late 16th century.  The city is known for its Spanish-era mansions, cobblestone streets, culture, and home to martyred priests.  The global competition was initiated by non-profit  New7Wonders Foundation whose aim was to preserve the world's man-made and natural heritage sites.   I visited the place in 2011 and was very impressed that everything was well preserved, bringing memories of nostalgic days to visitors.

Voting may be done to its website:  REGISTER AND LOG IN

The roster of 21 finalists will be further reduced to 14 for the final round, which will be announced October 7.
