Josie made it to Logroño the ancestral home of my family's deepest roots, the Prudentius, as far back as 305 AD.   Aurelius Clemens Prudentius was an author of many books,  most notably "Virtues and Vice."

For Your
Information...The distinguished Professor Joe Gallardo, USTPMTBBAA
Executive Officer, active Honorary President and Founder of the Federation
of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations (FAPA) emailed
me a preview of his lecture titled PHARMACIST AND PHYSICIAN
COLLABORATION TOWARDS BETTER HEALTH CARE.
  It is going to be
presented at the Plenary Symposium 3 - 20th
Congress
of FAPA on December 3, 2004 in Bangkok, ThailandHe has written many pharmaceutical
papers and was invited many times over in the past to speak in different
organizations in the Philippines, Thailand and the United States.  He will
be accompanied by his associate, Professor Purie S. Gallardo - Free Lance
Pharmacy Consultant - who will be assisting in the slide presentation and other
activities.  I find my review of the abstract to be full of inside
information.  It is well-explained and I found out that the text is still
being revised!  It is an excellent reading.   For

  1. The collectible limited USTPMTBBAA T-shirts were
delivered the other day.  Naku! Napakaganda!  Ang ganda-ganda
talaga!  The white T-shirt is first class Fruit of
the Loom brand.  It's beautifully designed and
embroidered (the guy who edited it had a hard time) with the purple logo and
    wordings of -

    Dear Professor
    Joe:

I must say my blooming and most productive
years as a presenter and speaker were relegated to my younger days as instructor
in the school of medical technology at St. Anthony Hospital.  I think my
best testament to my work now is my CD film presentation The
Thomasians.  I don't know how they do it but I've been to
shows, seminars, parties and anniversaries where they show slides and short
films on the screen to break the doldrums of boring but albeit much needed
speeches.  I'm not so in high digital technology like the A.L.T. Press
Relation Officer Marquiza.  I'd like to bring my CD film creation and feed
it to an available laptop computer or whatever Tuscany Hotel has afforded
to their customers convention.  The film runs for 12 minutes and 27
    seconds.

This is quite sudden but I must rise to the
occasion.  I thought I am only giving at most a 3 minute speech about my
med tech life experience but it looks like I am to participate to entertain my
fellow Thomasians.  What to do in two hours?  Now I have to tell some
jokes, sing and dance!  JUST KIDDING!!!  Just a thought, I'd like
to include Suzette Cresencia, 1970 B.S. Medical Technology & USTPMTBBAA
Canada VP, as contributor in my presentation.

Ya, I see a problem with UST Med Tech
Faculty since Pharmacy and Medical Technology are quite the same in my
opinion.  I heard from Nini, my T-shirt connection, that there are 60
Biochemistry alums coming to the Vegas reunion.  I am impressed!  I'm
guessing there are only 10 Med. Techs coming.  For shame!

    Hi

I just found out that nobody is coming from UST to
    attend
the Vegas reunion. I have written them to send by e-mail
    whatever
they have finished. I do not know if it is power
    point or plain
    text.

You are hereby commissioned to make the presentation on
    June
    24 from 1:30 to 3:30 PM.

    Have a good
    day.

    IN VEGAS

TED of United said "It's up to you where you want to go
and all we have to do is take you there" or something like that.
Where? Vegas, Baby, Vegas! Ted took me to my destination alright....but
more than three hours late!!!  The moon was orange not yellow as we touched
down at McCarran Airport Friday morning last week.  The passenger behind me
said it was the effect of the raging Arizona wildfires.  Now the wildfires
have spread  to California and Utah.  I got to my hotel around 1:30
a.m. missing by few minutes my fellow Thomasians MSollosa and Aleli
Towers who'd been patiently waiting for me at the lobby for many,
many hours.  They finally gave up waiting for me and went to
their rooms to take their beauty sleep.  It was 2:00 a.m. by the time I got
inside my big, spacious and comfortably-furnished suite ($99 per night).  I
was debating with myself if I should call MSollosa but I was so tired myself so
    I just went to sleep.

Las Vegas (The Meadows) keeps on booming.  I
was in Vegas in 2003 for the
1st UST Grand Reunion and it's back in
business big-time post 9/11.  Big difference.  I've been going
to Vegas every year since 1980 until 1998 when my parents were still living
in Los Angeles.  I'd accompany my mother and we'd join a charter bus to
Vegas for five bucks.  I read a record 37.4 million people visited Vegas in
2004.  They just keep on stripping at the Strip.  In 1998, I did not
see Canadian singer Celine Dion's name on the marquee.  Today she's the
reigning queen of Caesar and all of largest Vegas resort hotels in the whole
world.  Thomasians Narni & Rey paid $300 each just to see her (they
were seated right in front of the stage and saw her Elvis impersonation).
Big spenders and gamblers lose money in minutes if not seconds on the slots and
tables.  On rare moments, Lady Luck could be very giving.  One of our
Thomasians won $25,000 on the slot machine in RIO hotel where we had our
1st UST Grand Reunion.  I wonder if she's been hit one more
    time!?

I must say, Filipinos own Vegas when it comes to
working as venue clerks, hosts, waiters in hotel restaurants, hotel
maids and as shuttle/taxi/limo drivers.  So it's no surprise when
we were ushered by a Pinay at Marilyn's Café where we (MSollosa, Lydia of LA,
Canadians Chong (Maria Corazon) and Offie Rosales) ate for breakfast
buffet.  We said hi to fellow proud Thomasians and company who were also
having breakfast.  Then our friendly Italian limo driver Frank, took
us to the newest WYNN hotel.  The huge, colorful
parasol display, large wall with flowing water and nude sculptures facing
towards the wall and Wynn Waterfalls welcome new visitors.  UST
Biochemistry alumni Narni & Rey particularly enjoyed the buffet at WYNN with its fresh (not canned) Lychee fruit.

I'm forwarding this message from Professor Joe.
Kindly give a small or big donation or whatever you can afford to help our poor
kababayan in the Philippines in need of much-needed medical help.

  5. My Dear Fellow Thomasians:
I would like you to know that I have become an aggressive and active recruiter of the UNIVERSITY OF SANTO TOMAS PHARMACY, MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY, BIOCHEMISTRY, AND BOTANY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (USTPMTBBAA) since my appointment in June, 2005, as Press Relation Officer by the Executive Director Professor Joe P.B. Gallardo.
I may never equal the recruiting wizardry of Professor Joe but I hope to be in second place with your active participation and support.
Thank you from my bottomless heart.

Congratulations to the UAPP basketball champion - THE UST GROWING TIGERS!!!  They were the underdog but they beat Ateneo, University of the East, & San Beda.  A victory mass was held  at UST Chapel and a huge celebration took place in front of the historic Main Building.
