Resurrection Health Care and Provena Health have reached an agreement after several months of talks on a merger that will create the largest Catholic health care provider in the State of Illinois. The integrated health systems will have about $2.7 billion in operating revenues. A new name has not been decided.
The system will have 3,625 beds, 4,915 medical staff members and more than 22,959 other employees. The system will offer acute care clinical programs, outpatient services, health programs, home care, hospice care and long-term care facilities. It will also include Resurrection University, a nursing school in Oak Park, Illinois that is planning to move to Saint Elizabeth Hospital.
The providers have filed applications with the Illinois Health Facilities Services Review Board, and state approval could come later this year.
