Wednesday, October 10 If you're looking for a place to shop in South America, Buenas Aires is the city. Luz and I had fun shopping at the many stores, with most items discounted. You can even bargain for the items that you like. We bought gaucho bags and shoes or sandals that you don't find in the United States due to limited importation.
Gallerias Pacifico - The building was constructed in1891 to accomodate a shop called Au Bon Marche and since 1896, the first building of the Museum of Fine Arts. In 1908, part of the building was sold to Buenos Aires and Pacific Railway Company for economic reasons, giving its present name to the shopping center. In 1945, the architecture was refurbished and it was then the majestic dome was constructed and decorated with frescos. In 1989 the venue was declared National Historic Monument. By the beginning of the 1990s, it was completely refurbished and transformed into a shopping arcade.
