Return to Ravinia

LabTechs Favorite Summer Festival

RETURN TO RAVINIA

THE RAVINIA SUMMER FESTIVAL opens its gates and ticket windows to music lovers and groupies all around the northshore of Chicago and as far as the southshore track stops of METRA trains.  I must confess, I have not been back at the Ravinia since my hotpants days, living in the elitist side of Hyde Park.  I must admit this is a shame because the popular music place is right in my backyard and just a sonata away from my house where I've been living for many years since.  Lab techs Susan (Johnny Mathis) and Vicky (Latin Music) had been to Ravinia with their friends.
Not that there's no availability of my old favorites - Ravinia offers the world-class megaperformers, so plentiful in musical debuts, premieres, classical performances, and this summer of 2008, there's the "symphony of a thousand" with more than 140 guest artists.
The Ravinia is the adopted crib of the prestigious and renown Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO), S-swinging under the master baton of the handsome music director James Conlon and conductor-maestro Haitink and other visiting conductors.
I returned to Ravinia this lazy day of summer.  Ravinia has been calling me like a siren, ravishing me with my love of music.  Well, the one who really called me was LabTech Vicky.  She said, "Hoy, do you want to see Willie Nelson?  Call me back."
The crowd, the fans went "crazy" when Willie appeared around 9 pm, his hat on plus bandana singing Whiskey River.  He sang all his hit songs and before we knew it we're "on the road" after a night of music with Willie Nelson. http://youtu.be/1TD_pSeNelU
It's 101 days of listening to "music under the stars", picnicking on the grassy lawn, or eating at the new dining pavilion.  We brought our own lawn chair (rent is $7) and food baskets of chicken skins, fried smelts, chicken wings, Portillo sandwiches and drinks.

Willie Nelson fans (L-R): George, Alma, Vicky, Helen, Tasia and Adele of California.
Budz1 and a Willie wannabe without his bandana.
Ravinia will play for you, play every chord of your fabulous body, and even sing for you.
That is music to your ears!
