LEA SALONGA: FROM A CHILD STAR IN THE PHILIPPINES TO INTERNATIONAL SUPERSTAR.  Her professional debut began in 1978 at the age of seven in the musical The King and I.  Many musical hit shows followed: Annie, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Rose Tattoo, The Sound of Music, The Goodbye Girl, Paper Moon, and The Fantasticks.  Lea's big break came when she was selected to play Kim in the London musical of Miss Saigon in 1989.  She took the role of a Chinese immigrant in the Broadway revival of Flower Drum Song in 2002.

The first Asian to play Eponine in the Broadway musical Les Miserables; returned as Fantine in the 2006 revival

August 2011 Walt Disney Company bestowed her the honor of "Disney Legend" for her portrayal and as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine (Aladdin) and Fa Mulan (Mulan and Mulan II)
Craig Noel nomination for Outstanding Featured Performance in Allegiance - a workshopped production by the legendary Star Trek actor George Takei.  Allegiance tells the story of a Japanese American family forced in an internment camp during World War II. 
Served as a judge on the Philippine version of the TV hit show The Voice

Lea has performed for five Philippine presidents: Ferdinand Marcos, Cory Aquino, Fidel Ramos, Joseph Estrada and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.  Three American presidents: George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.  A command performance for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Diana, Princess of Wales.  Needless to say, many Filipinos attended her concerts from all over the world.

In celebration of October 2013 Filipino American History Month (FAHM), Lea has been invited to Chicago by the Tinley Park - Frankport Rotary Club for a benefit concert in support of Local Southland Youth Scholarships.
