What I was struck most is when I saw the still beautiful Farrah, in the midst of terrible pain, crying, lying in her hospital bed making the Sign of the Cross and in a scene holding the Holy Rosary. The word Rosary means "Crown of Roses." The rose is the queen of all flowers. The Rosary then is the rose of all devotions, connecting our spirit with the suffering of Christ and His mother, Mary. I was at one time visiting the Shrine of St. Therese of Lisieux of the Carmelite Order -- she said, "Mary is more Mother than Queen."
I said to myself, this is "beyond faith".... she is closer to God now, probably carrying the Cross of having a cancer, in which most of us did carry a cross at one time in our lifetime. In another scene she was looking out ( from her home or hospital?) hoping for a miracle.
Maybe, just maybe, she should stop for a while her chemotherapy that the toxic chemicals are zapping both the good cells as well as the cancer cells! And for a change visit the Lourdes in France and drink the miracle water of hope and healing. These are very simplistic cures, so basic. not high tech at all. But what is there to lose?
Yes, we are only human, no one in us, our dear family members and friends are not exempt in being attacked by this insidious disease of cancer and other diseases. All we can do as a caregiver is to pray and hope for a .... miracle.
