US CARRIER STATS

There are 11 active carriers - 2 are being made (Gerald Ford and John F. Kennedy).  An aircraft carrier crew is comprised of approximately 3,000 people to run and maintain the ship plus another 2,500 for the airwing - total of 5,500 crew.  With 11 aircraft carriers running, that sums up to 60,500 military jobs. 

 Hey, ship ahoy over there in Subic Bay.  I got a feeling the possibility of the US presence will be approved by the Philippine Congress.  It will be a big boon for small Filipino businesses and tourism.

So that's what it is!  Why the US military build-up in Guam and the possible return of U.S. Forces in Subic Bay is...because of China's launching its first aircraft carrier in the Pacific.  I say for every reaction there is an equal and opposite reaction.  The counterplan is all quite clear now -- to protect small countries like Taiwan, Vietnam and the Philippines, a longtime ally of the US.  I'm not too sure of my stats but I think there are two active US carriers (out of 13) with 70,000 navy men and women on active duty each cruising somewhere the seven seas.  I could be or possibly wrong since it was a few years ago I saw an excellent PBS documentary about the US Navy titled "Carrier." I have to check and verify exactly how many and what.

How interesting!  This was written by law Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University, St. Paul, Minnesota.  The 2008 presidential election between Obama and McCain is seen in a different view and angle by him.  It's worth noting and yes, everyone should be concerned.  My wish for every voter is to be well informed and not be swayed by hypes and rhetorics.  I kept thinking why Obama was elected?  Right, things happen for a reason.  I realized now why -- to prove to Obama, cold (not cool) and arrogant, that words (of "change" and "hope") alone are not enough to promote a sustainable economy and democracy in action.  How can a man with very little experience and a business acumen that's totally nil be the chief executive officer of the United States of A.? Yes, we're not better of now because of Obama and the Democrats.  We are worse, worser, worst!

I hope, my own mantra of "WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE" will become a reality in the 2012 presidential election.

Of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some

2,000 years prior:

Presidential election:

Number of States won by:      Obama: 19     -     McCain: 29

Square miles of land won by:     Obama: 580,000   -   McCain: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by:     Obama: 127 million    -   McCain: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:  Obama: 13.2  -  McCain: 2.1  

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won

was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income

tenements and living off various forms of government welfare."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the

"complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of

democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already

having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders

called illegal's - and when they vote - then we can say goodbye to the USA in

fewer than five years.

I did not say Obama raised the "debt ceiling" but I said he raised the "debt" from $8 trillions to skyrocketing $14 trillions.  The U.S. government has three branches - Executive, Legislative and Judicial.  But they are all interconnected.  True, technically and officially, Congress has the power, makes the law and passes the bill by voting and has the responsibilty to raise the ceiling if there is such a thing the way things are going.  Sky is the limit, if you ask me.  Obama as president may lack the authority but as a leader of his Democratic Party he had to be responsible also, talk to both parties, deal and negotiate with his plans and approve or execute whatever comes to his desk.  If you are the president of the one and only superpower in the world and you don't have the power, then what are you good for?  Anyway, I've read there is some kind of different opinions about this because of the 14th Amendment in the U.S. Constitution -- I quote, "The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution gives Obama the authority to make sure U.S. debts are paid, presumably including a rise in the debt ceiling..." If authority is power, the provision to make sure that the U.S. meets its obligation that a president could make use of, Obama did not think of considering but instead threw the ball back to Congress.  Truman famously said, "the buck stops here."  When the economy is good, the president always gets the credit.  So, finally there was a debt celing compromise by both houses which I think was full of abracadabra.  Why so?



THE COMPROMISE

• Increase the debt ceiling to $2.4 trillion; immediate increase of $400 billions followed by $500 billions.  Total debt ceiling in this Obama Administration: $16 trillion plus !!!!!! Bush & Previous Administrations: $8 trillions


• Cut $900 billions in 10 years in spending; discretionary spending decrease of $21 billions in 2012 and $42 billions in 2013.  Spending cuts of $1.2 trillions. ONLY!

Hey, wasn't that ridiculous?  An uneven seesaw.  The surgical knife cut not even a thin layer of the pie.



Anyway, my big bro always tells me Uncle Sam can always print money.  Even Greenspan just said that last week.  No problem!

I know who's not worrying - the folks who are getting welfare checks and illegal aliens getting free healthcare and school scholarship funds.  The people who gave the most for this country are the people who get screwed most of the time.  Washington is worrying about cuts of $1 trillion or more for this and that but did not worry or care when Obama raise the debt to $14 trillions with his failed stimulus package of $7 trillions.  Fools!

FINALLY, of all people in the form of an Orlando Sentinel cartoonist by the name of Dana Summers, someone shared what I was saying all this time which no one, no one, (even Conservative talkshow host Rush Limbaugh http://www.rushlimbaugh.com did not mention it, maybe once?) was talking about in the bias mainstream media. To the point, I say Obama is a hypocrite. For the first time in 2008 political campaign fundraising as presidential candidate he raised $1 billion dollars from his mega-rich friends -- the likes of George Soros, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Michael Bloomberg, and other real or ghost corporate zillionaires. The same people that he's attacking for not paying their fair share of taxes! It's mind boggling how they allow themselves to be called suckers to Obama. To date, Obama has got $86 million dollars in his 2012 campaign coffers...and counting. That was all this time playing monkeys on my head. How crazy is that?

At lease some so-called "rich" Republicans, former VP Dick Cheney to name one, never asked me for political contribution of $10 or $20 because he knew he's wealthier than I. That, my friend, is not a hypocrite. I even remember and had this perception that John McCain was not even comfortable in asking for political donations. I wonder who donated to him when Obama got all the big wigs and Hollywood producers and celebrities!

You fool! Of course, I'm not rich.

NO PAIN, NO PAIN!! ARE YOU ERGONOMICALLY CORRECT? 

According to the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, the most common work-related injuries are incorrect posture along with repetitive movements and heavy lifting.

Musculoskeletal Disorders - Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS)

Triggered by prolong sitting or standing with forward head posture, or by tight, overworked neck muscles.  Symptoms are pain in the neck, shoulder, upper back, chronic headaches, aching heaviness in the arm and loss of hand function.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)

The carpal tunnel consists of a large nerve that run down each arm and is surrounded by bones, ligaments, and tendons at the wrist area.  Lab techs whose jobs involve prolong wrist bending, forceful gripping, and prolong to cold and vibration are at risk.  Wrist pain, weakening grip and swelling of the hand and forearm are all indicators that someone may be suffering from CTS.

Tips-

• Use good posture with your head, shoulders and hips
• Stretch the neck muscles and wrist joints daily to maintain flexibility
• Get prolonged rest if you experience discomfort

Ergonomically Correct Work Station-

Head - Directly over shoulders without straining, about an arm's length from screen.

Neck and Shoulders - Relaxed.

Back- Upright or inclined slightly forward from the hips.  Maintain the same spinal curve in the back as when standing.

Elbows - Relaxed at a 70 - 135 degree angle.

Wrists - Relaxed and straight, not angled up or down.

Knees - Slightly lower than hips.

Chair - Sloped slightly forward so knees are in the correct position.

Feet - Firmly planted on the floor.  A footrest may be needed for shorter people or high work surfaces.

Screen - At eye level or slightly lower.

Keyboard - Best when kept flat close to elbow level.  Take frequent rest breaks.

Work Surface - At a height to allow the elbows to be relaxed at 70 - 135 degree angle.  Chair may need to be raised to accomodate this high enough to allow knees to fit under.
