The Crown Fountain is an interactive work of public art and video sculpture. It was designed by Catalan conceptual artist Jaume Plensa. The transparent glass brick tower is 50 feet (15 meters) tall. The water spout coming out of the mouth of more than 1,000 photos of ordinary gargoylic Chicagoans happens every 5 minutes.
College classmates at the Cloud Gate or "The Bean"
AT&T Plaza hosts the Cloud Gate. The highly-polished steel sculpture with no outside visible seams was inspired by liquid mercury, 12 foot (3.7 meters) high arch. It was designed and created by world-renowned artist Anish Kapoor.
The Jay Pritzker Pavilion is the centerpiece of the Millennium Park. It was designed by the 21st most sought-after modern architect Frank Gehry.
The Millennium Park in Chicago is the most expensive public park in the world. The plan was conceived in March 1998 and construction began in September of the same year. It was the city's most important project since the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 - 120 years ago. Originally intended to celebrate the 2000 millennium, the park officially opened on July 16, 2004 - four years behind schedule. The original budget for the park was $150 million but due to cost overruns attributed to poor planning, many design changes and cronyism, the final cost skyrocketed to $475 million. The City of Chicago paid $270 million and taxpayers and donors swallowed the rest. All in all, local folks, my classmates in college (see photos), friends and visitors only have high praises for the beautiful park.

Ever Dear Batchmates & Friends:
The Winter Texan (aka "snowbird") is back in Evanston, Illinois from the
great Lone Star State of Texas. And, where the stars up above are
brighter. I had a fabulous and delicious holiday with the other
legal Winter Texans (Mama Paz, Marilou, Lulu, Richard, and Bro Nap). I had
chico, guava fruits after 35 years of not eating them.
I know you all have been wondering about the long period of inactivity in
my websites. I've been flying the American Way a lot lately having
just came back from my exciting trip of historic Central Europe. I know ALT
PRO Mila couldn't wait to see my nano- YOUTUBE video but I'm almost done with it. She's my
number one admirer you know.
I usually fly Continental to Texas but just to check and compare I
flew American this time. I arrived at my final destination on schedule,
even early by 10 minutes. However, I quite forgot flying
American was inconvenient for me because the terminals at Dallas-Fort
Worth International Airport were so far apart. Yeah, go skylinks or
the handicapped cart. Some things don't change - American is always
changing the departure gates. There I was at that gate eating my
Popeye chicken wings, the best mashed potatoes and French fries
while killing my layover time. I know, I know, check the flight
board. Not so convenient for the GoC (Goddess of Convenience).
So we're done watching the past year grow old, the past year showing at our
faces. Maybe not. If you have a fat face (which I have) the lines
don't show! So we're done for now listening to the music of years gone by...but
for sure not a moment too soon, sweet and sour memories to be replayed time and
time again. I gave Christmas gifts of "25 Songs of Memories"
cds to my Manila High School batchmates (SkyGoddess Te, Lydia of Helsinki
the Goddess of Poetry & Dance, Margie the Goddess of Health & Beauty)
and ever beloved teacher Ma'am Amor, A V O (Amor Vincit

A reminder to all my UST college batchmates - did you hang your beautiful
collectible 2008 USTPMTBBAA CALENDAR already? Thank you all so much for
the Christmas cards that I have not opened yet and to early senders Ruby &
Nora. Josie, no definite date yet for the USTPMTBBAA 2008 Las Vegas
reunion. It's usually held in June.
Week One of the new year all across the land and across the seven
seas. It's a bright new day today I feel I'm so blessed with new
inspiration. Wait! I have so many unfinished projects from last
year. (Giggles). Indeed a brand-new magical story, personal or otherwise,
for each and every one of us.
