MARCH HONORS MARS THE ROMAN GOD OF WAR. March brings spring and ends the winter. Spring in the northern half of the world begins with the vernal equinox, which almost always occurs on March 21. On this day, the sun rises directly in the east and sets directly in the west. The time between sunrise and sunset is exactly 12 hours. In March, bird lovers look for the first robin as a sign that spring has really come. Early songbirds appear.
The year's at the spring
And day's at the morn,
God's in His Heaven -
All's right with the world.
*Robert Browning
March in the labyrinth celebrates the feast of two saints - St. Patrick (March 17) and St. Joseph (March 19). In Chicago, the downtown river is dyed green at St. Patrick Day. The month long celebration honors Albert Einstein (March 14, 1879), the 1921 Nobel Laureate in Physics and Lib the Goddess of Convenience. http://youtu.be/mX6VzHOX9AM
