The actor-comedian's grandmother is full-blooded Filipina and was married to an American officer who was on duty at Clark Air Force Base in Pampanga.  His half-Filipino mom, who grew up in the summer capital of Baguio, married a Jewish guy which was a "good mix" according to him.  Schneider was born in San Francisco and grew up south of Daly City which local folks call Little Manila.  He said, "I never considered myself short since I was always surrounded by Filipinos."  His full house show at Solaire may be because he has a lot of relatives, the Hamadas coming from Baguio and the Formosos in Manila.  He jokingly added they asked him for 55 hundred tickets for the show, bringing a few friends of about 55,522 from Baguio.  He said there's nothing like making Filipinos laugh -  the Filipinos are the best laughing people in the world.  He was presented a surprise advance birthday cake, turning 50 on October 31.

Schneider said his mother set a good example - she went to college, put herself through school and worked hard.  She was a teacher and school board president.  His mother taught him to expect more: "I would get A's and B's in my report card and she goes with so what?  You're expected to get that, you're smart.  When you get something special, then we'll talk.  She pushed me to be overly successful."
