In The Land Of Lincoln

FILIPINO AMERICAN TRAVELERS [MILA, BEL AND REX] and self are back on the road and finally right out of St. Louis.  We made a very brief pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, Illinois.  It's very popular religious destination among Filipino Catholics in the midwest.  It's about noon when we arrived at the Shrine and we were hungry.  We ate our prepared lunch of tosino, langoniza, and rice in one of the tables inside the peaceful and beautiful parkHaving quenched our thirst and our tummies filled, we were on a roll again to see Lincoln's Eyes at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, the capital of Illinois.

Inside the Museum's Union Theatre, we were just on time to see an almost true to life 20-minute film complete with terrific sound effects on the life and time of Civil War President Abraham Lincoln beginning as a good-looking kid up to his assassination.  Abe and Mary Todd had 4 children.  However, at the Museum I only saw 3.  Just my opinion...not to include the 4th son even though he died young did not make the Lincoln family at the Museum complete!

Experiencing Lincoln, the most famous icon in American history and the great founder of the Republican Party, from eye to eye is something to behold!  We left the world-class library more knowledgeable and true to his own prophetic words..."We cannot escape history.  We...will be remembered in spite of ourselves."  My hat's to you, Abe!
We all arrived safe and whole in Chicago mile after magnificent mile around 9:00 p.m.

Goodnight, Abe!
