ANTI-CANCER FOODS THAT ARE SO MUCH CHEAPER THAN MEDICINAL DRUGS

Cancer risk decreases when people eat 10 or more tablespoons per week of tomato products -- red pasta sauce, tomato paste and tomatoes themselves.  The risk of developing prostate cancer in men is lowered by as much as one-third, if they frequently consume foods containing tomato products.   A study done on 48,000 men by Harvard University researchers revealed those who ate 10 servings of tomato rich foods weekly cut their risk of prostate cancer by nearly half.  Likewise, the risk of developing breast cancer in women is lowered by 30 to 50 percent, if they eat tomatoes and related products.   According to researchers, the ingredient responsible is lycopene, a carotenoid known for its antioxidant properties.  Carotenoids attach themselves to cancerous free radicals and wrap them so they are washed out of the body before damaging or impacting healthy cells.

I harvested my tomatoes in early August - so sweet and fleshy

Garlic is one of the oldest medicinal herbs known to humans, and as a protection against the human bat Dracula.  Prescriptions for use of garlic have been found on Sumerian tablets (precursor of Google Nexus tablet) dating back to 3000 BCE.  French microbiologist Louis Pasteur observed and recorded its antibacterial properties in 1858.  During World War I, garlic was widely used in bandages to prevent infections.  During World War II,  when Russian soldiers ran out of antibiotics they used garlic as substitute.  It was used in such great quantities that it came to be popularly known as Russian penicillin.  Garlic contains sulfur compounds which promote cell death or apoptosis in colon, breast, lung, kidney and prostate cancer.

I planted garlic once but I'd rather buy from the grocery

Mushrooms are the best, especially when they are stuffed.  Maggiano's has the best stuffed mushrooms.  Eating them lowers estrogen levels in women which in turn reduces the risk of breast cancer.  They are loaded with conjugated linolenic acid, a compound that helps protect against the too high levels of estrogen that are linked to breast cancers.  It has also been noted that among Japanese peasants who consume large amount of mushrooms, they have a 50 percent lower rate of stomach cancer over those Japanese who do not eat many mushrooms.  A wide variety of mushrooms are staple foods in Japanese hospitals, where they are especially provided to patients during chemotherapy treatment.

Citrus fruits, such as oranges, tangerines, lemons and grapefruit, contain a substance called limonene, which raises the levels of body's enzymes, which break down carcinogens while stimulating cancer killing immune cells.  They also contain glucarase, which deactivates carcinogens and ushers them out of the body.

Cruciform vegetables, such as cabbage, Brussels sprouts, bok choy, Chinese cabbage, broccoli, califlower, all contain powerful anti-cancer molecules capable of detoxifying carcinogens and preventing them from developing into malignant tumors.  Researcher Victoria Kirsch, Ph.D. of Cancer Care Ontario in Toronto and her colleagues looked a 1,338 prostate cancer patients, learning that eating a lot of cruciferous vegetables was associated with a decreased risk of aggresive prostate cancer.

Berry-Berries, such as blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, contain ellagic acid, a powerful anti-cancer compound, which cuts off blood supply to cancer cells, preventing them from growing and expanding.  University of Montreal Professor Richard Beliveau, and a biochemistry researcher, heads one of largest laboratories for molecular medicine specializing in cancer biology.  He has been examining raspberries and discovering the ellagic acid slowed down tumor growth significantly in mice exposed to aggressive cancer.

I HEARD IT
THROUGH THE
GRAPEVINE....

I, you, us in the medical community have heard this
before.  That in wine there is truth!

Medical researchers at the joined study of Harvard
Medical School and U.S. Government's National Institute on Aging have studied
and determined to be true that there is a compound in red wine called
Resveratrol that may prevent medical conditions associated with aging,
heart diseases and eye cataracts.  According to the study published in the
journal of Cell Metabolism, the mice in the study had better bone health,
reduced total cholesterol and the compound seemed to have moderate inflammation
of the heart.  GlaxoSmithKline bought Sirtris Pharmaceutical Inc. for $720
million, a company that is developing a synthetic Resveratrol
However, like all drugs, the red grape compound is potent and might
have uncertain interactions with other drugs.

Here's more on red grapes: According to medical
researchers in New York's Mt. Sinai Hospital School of Medicine, red grape
seed extract called Polyphenolic compounds or Polyphenols might prevent
memory loss due to Alzheimer disease.  The mice in the 5-month study were
given a 1 gram of Polyphenols and had 30 percent to 50 percent
less clumping of amyloid-beta protein, the main cause of formation of
plaques and tangles in the brain, preventing the nerve cells from interacting,
dying, and so, loss of memory.  The grape seed extract is being
sold as MegaNatural AZ by Polyphenolics company of Madera, California.

Here's to grapes of youth!

Fast Food in China

YIKES!   CHINESE FOLKS HAVE DIFFERENT TASTE BUDS.   I better stick to eating Peking Duck!

I prefer fried chicken livers from Brown's

Goat meat is good

I think Dog Brain Soup is good for memory

Oysters are sex food -- no wonder there are more than a billion Chinese

I must confess I ate crispy fried beetles - it grossed out my American boss

These were big seahorses - I thought they were small

WITH ALMOST 1.5 BILLION RED CHINESE ON THE MOVE, THE BEIJING OLYMPICS
will be the most successful Olympics of all-time in my observation.  All together in showing to the world the essence and beauty of the Silk Curtain, it will make a lasting impression of the big changes it has accomplished in such very short years in comparison to 3,000 dynastic years of ancient but significant bloody history.

I must disagree with human rights critics and protestors that China did not change one iota in improving the social life and freedom of its people.  I've been to China, and one should know the Chinese mentality.  East is so different from the West.  With good diplomatic relations, it's tit for tat with the Chinese.  Why, lately, Roman Catholics in China are able to express their freedom of religion and go to church there.  This is from what I read in the Catholic New World newspaper.

Hi ALT Travel:

I got this e-mail the other day from Thomasian Rose.  I'm posting this for those travelers who want to see the beautiful islands of Hawaii.  If you're interested contact or write the managers of this website.

Aloha, baby!

Hey everybody,

We just purchased a one bedroom condo near Hanalei Bay in Oahu,
(Hawaii).  I thought I would let you know, in case anyone's interested in
accommodations for an upcoming getaway to the islands.  It's available for weekends
or on a weekly basis.  For now, I will be handling bookings until I can
find an agent.

Weekends will cost about $100 for three nights, and $250 for the week
- These prices are for friends and family.  Prices will be a bit
different for people I don't know, but we can discuss that on an individual
basis.

In any case, it's a one bedroom high rise unit that overlooks the
ocean, nestled among lush greens, and has a lovely ocean view from
every
window!

Let me know if you're interested.

Sweet Charity Appeal 2007

To a Beloved Donor,

Our Lady of Loreto Medical Charities is a non-profit, private organization founded in 1991 in Barangay Calutan, Agdangan in the Quezon Province, Philippines.  With the donations from our colleagues, friends and families, we were able to build a small fourteen pew church, a charity medical clinic and free pharmacy.  The medical clinic is staffed daily by two medical doctors and two midwives.  At the present time a 40-50 bed charity hospital is under construction.  With your donations, we may be able to finish construction to continue serving our needy and beautiful people in this remote area of the Philippines.
Thank you very much.
Yours truly,
Evacueto P. Tangco, M.D.
