Mega-Mentalist Sidney Friedman

WHAT'S NEW WITH SIDNEY FRIEDMAN? HE'S BRRRRILLANT!

_________________________________________________

MEGA-MENTALIST SIDNEY FRIEDMAN

Last Tuesday, January 17th, I attended the 2012 Customer Appreciation Dinner at Doubletree Hotel in Skokie. I was not able to attend last year appreciation dinner because I was busy preparing for my trip to the Philippines and Indonesia. I was told last year's theme was "physical." This year the theme was "mental." So it's just most appropriate to have Mega-Mentalist Sidney Friedman to entertain us for most of the evening.

Let's get mental:

The mega-mind power of Sidney Friedman had to be believed and seen in person. He's a mathematical genius - he asked one lady in the audience to give him any number - which was 17. He had a board with squares and with his back from the board he started calling a number with someone writing the number on the board. All the numbers when added in the squares were all equal to 17!

The highlight for me:

It was an exciting mental exercise until I was picked. The more it got exciting and amazing at least to me! Sidney went to the left, middle and right side of the room to where I was seated and I was the last one of the six to be chosen. At the stage, Sidney did not ask us for our names but asked us for our astrological sign. With his back behind us we were told to pick a large-sized envelope, then pick one thing inside a bag and put it inside the envelope. Like in a musical chair we were told to pass the envelope to one another, faster and faster, until he said stop. Sidney took one envelope from the first, put the envelope up to his forehead, close his eyes and say a little something good or not so bad about the owner. After a short while he went to the rightful owner and he got it right. He kept getting it right until the last two remaining, self (last one), and a teenage girl before me in the line. To make it interesting he said he took the two envelopes. He did the same thing of putting the envelopes near his forehead, closed his eyes and appeared to be in deep thought. He told the audience the owner of this envelope (mine) has a "dirty mind." Ha-ha-ha! Laughters from the crowd! Hey, I said to myself, this is war between the mega-mentalist and the pisces psychic me -- finally he added - the person is bold and once made a decision there's no changing of the mind or something like that. Finally, he walked to the teen next to me and asked her if that was hers (balloon inside the envelope). She said yes. Of course, the last envelope with mini-toilet toy was mine. Clap, clap, clap!!! All in all, Sidney is 99.999 % correct. His predictions are eerily accurate indeed.

Special for the appreciation dinner attendees, Sidney prepared for us life-improvement mind power tips from http://www.sidneyfriedman.com/ which was handed to us before going to wherever at the end of the evening. Inside the brochure flyer he has some mental questions:

What English language word begins with an E, ends with an E, yet contains only one letter.

What is broken everytime it is spoken?

Email Sidney for answer. sidney@sidneyfriedman.com

(Yeah, I know the answers myself)

Early in the evening, after entering the party room I was looking around for any table for the room was already full with more than 300 guests. Some friendly people called out to me that they saved a chair for me. I was also looking for a friend among the crowd but did not see anyone. Because I was on the stage, a fellow laboratory co-worker (Rickie) from more than 20 years ago recognized me even though I changed a lot (gained weight from 110 lbs. to 165 etc...). Isn't that mental or what! Hugs and kisses on the cheeks.

Try it!!!

L.

 A really neat puzzle

If you can put this puzzle together….say goodbye to Alzheimer’s!

JIN JIN DU LI

After trying a few times I finally did it for 10 seconds but with slight difficulty.

If you are not able to stand for less than 10 seconds, it means that your body has degenerated to 60 to 70 years old level in other words, you may be only 40 years old, but your body has aged a lot faster.
I tried this exercise myself when I read the mail. I thought “oh, big deal, I’m sure I can do this easily” I was fooling myself, I’m glad I tried it because I discovered much to my surprise that while I could stand easily on one foot with my eyes open, trying the same thing with my eyes closed was another story! I just could not keep my balance for more than two to three seconds before I started wobbling and hopping around.
You do not need to lift your leg high, if your internal organs are out of synch, even lifting your leg this bit will make you wobble.
Now this was quite scary because it told me that my body was almost 60 years old and here was me, barely into my forties! These Chinese are really very advanced in their knowledge of the human body. It was very heartening to know that frequent and regular practice can help you recover your sense of balance. In fact Chinese specialists suggest daily practice of Jin Ji Du Li for 1 minute, this helps prevent dementia.
You can try slightly closing both eyes while practicing Jin Ji Du Li, instead of completely closing them; in fact this is what the health specialist Zhong Li Ba Ren recommends.
Daily practice of Jin Ji Du Li, can help in healing many illnesses or diseases like

  • Hypertension,
  • High Blood Sugar or diabetes,
  • Neck and Spinal diseases,
  • it can also prevent you from getting dementia.

Zhong Li Ba Ren has written a book titled "Self Help is Better than Seeking Doctors' Help", which is a bestselling book that has been the best seller health book in China since it was first published last year. Its success can be measured by the fact that it has been reprinted 12 times within 6 months, with more than 1 million copies sold. The book is a hot seller because it teaches many simple practical health tips.
It is said that according to the understanding of Chinese physicians, diseases appear in the body because the coordination between the various internal organs encounter problems and that causes the body to lose its balance. Jin Ji Du Li can readjust this inter-relationship of the organs and how they function with each other. Zhong Li Ba Ren stated that many people can't stand on one foot with their eyes closed for even 5 seconds, but later on as they practice it daily, are able to stand for more than 2 minutes.
As you gain ability to stand for longer time, the feeling of "head heavy, light feet” disappears. As benefits or practicing Jin Ji Du Li, you will experience that the quality of sleep improves, the mind clears up and memory improves significantly. Most importantly if you can practice Jin Ji Du Li with your eyes closed for 1 minute every day, you will not get dementia. (I think it this also means the brain will remain healthy).
Zhong Li Ba Ren explained that there are 6 important meridians passing through our legs. When you stand on a single leg, the weak meridian will feel sore while getting the necessary exercise, and as this happens, the corresponding organs of these meridians and their path-ways, start getting the necessary tuning. This method can focus or concentrate the awareness, and channel the body's qi to the foot. The beneficial effects of practicing Jin Ji Du Li on various illnesses associated with hypertension, diabetes, neck and spinal diseases are quick to be seen and felt. Jin Ji Du Li can also prevent gout.
Jin Ji Du Li helps to Strengthen body Immunity rapidly
Jin Ji Du Li it is suitable for everyone generally. It is the basic cure for "Cold Feet Disease” and it can also strengthen the body’s immunity. You do not have to wait until you have any illness to start practicing Jin Ji Du Li. It is especially beneficial for young people, when they practice it daily while they are healthy, so that their chances of contracting the various illness associated with aging is comparatively lower.
Please note that it is not suitable for people over 70 years old, or those old people whose legs are not strong and cannot stand steadily.

Capitalist Ms. Piggy

DON'T BE FOOLED...

I'M A CAPITALIST MS. PIGGY IN NAME ONLY.

The 99% owe a lot to the 1%. Without the 1% (aka Capitalist) the off the Wall Street folks and many charitable organizations are nothing. Nothing! The 99% will never ever realize this being brainwashed by the Socialists. Most big corporations are the most giving in grants and private donations and they make up for the tightwadness of the middle class and the 99%, not all, who can but don't. They just like to share.

Capitalism 1 0 1

Capitalism is also known as Private Capitalism while Socialism is also known as Public or State Socialism.

Capitalism is an economic system in which individuals or private businesses develop, own and control much of a country's physical capital. On the other side, Socialism seek to abolish private capitalism and replace it with state-type capitalism in which the government owns all productions - banks, oil and auto industries, you name it. Socialism ( son of Communism) stifles personal initiative and gives no or few rewards for individual ability, management, hard work and above all, success.

George Washington would call himself a capitalist today. After all his face is printed in the almighty dollar bill.

Mitt Romney for President

STICK A FORK ON ME, I'M DONE!
I'm done almost four years ago. Yes, I'm a Republican. My choice, my candidate for President of the United States of America is handsome Mitt Romney! I only vote for good looking presidential candidates. Not for Ron "cuckoo" Paul whose face only a mother could love (sorry); not for American history professor Newt Gingrich who's a thing of the past really and not electable; not for the fully-vested Rick Santorum (he could be a vice president, if not Marco Rubio); not for that oopsman in Texas Rick Perry and not the wannabes that have suspended their presidential aspiration. I must say and agree they are all good looking and they all have the qualities of a bona fide Republican.

Let me tell you this. You might think I don't know about the Republican Party, the Grand Old Party of Abraham Lincoln. As a foreign-born political observer there is a line up of presidential successors inside the Republican presidential algorithm. The next in line is, right I am, Mitt Romney. That's the big difference between the Republicans and the Democrats. Anything goes with the Democrat elders - for example, in 2008 they threw their crowned presidential queen Hillary under the bus and replaced her with a little known community organizer from Chicago. Well, not anymore. Obama, elected primarily by the bias liberal media and the academia, became the first black US president and wife Michelle became an "angry black woman" and an extravagant fashionista to the nth degree. I must say those gowns she's wearing are quite gorgeous. So what's this crap about middle class envy?

Why Mitt?

  • I believe in America - his slogan

  • I have full confidence in his economic acumen

  • I was impressed in his saving the US Olympics

  • I don't care if his religion is a Mormon

  • I admire him as a respected family man

Right. Uh-oh. I hope I don't get a letter in the mail asking for contribution to the Romney campaign.

Cairo, The War Dog

Cairo, The War Dog

I just got this  but probably has been going around after the capture of Osama by the SEALs in October.

Subject: FW: The Dog That Cornered Osama Bin Laden

 ----- Forwarded Message ----
From: John Kuhlmann

-->

When U.S. President Barack Obama went to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, last week

for a highly publicized, but very private meeting with the commando team

that killed Osama bin Laden, only one of the 81 members of the super-secret

SEAL DevGru unit was identified by name: Cairo, the war dog.

Cairo, like most canine members of the elite U.S. Navy SEALs, is a Belgian

Malinois. The Malinois breed is similar to German shepherds but smaller and

more compact, with an adult male weighing in the 30-kilo range.

(

(German shepherds are still used as war dogs by the American military but

the lighter, stubbier Malinois is considered better for the tandem

parachute jumping and rappelling operations often undertaken by SEAL teams.

Labrador retrievers are also favoured by various military organizations around the world

Like their human counterparts, the dog SEALs are highly trained, highly

skilled, highly motivated special ops experts, able to perform

extraordinary military missions by SEa, Air and Land (thus the acronym).

The dogs carry out a wide range of specialized duties for the military

teams to which they are attached: With a sense of smell 40 times greater

than a human’s, the dogs are trained to detect and identify both explosive

material and hostile or hiding humans.

The dogs are twice as fast as a fit human, so anyone trying to escape is

not likely to outrun Cairo or his buddies.

The dogs, equipped with video cameras, also enter certain danger zones

first, allowing their handlers to see what’s ahead before humans follow.

As I mentioned before, SEAL dogs are even trained parachutists, jumping

either in tandem with their handlers or solo, if the jump is into water.

Last year canine parachute instructor Mike Forsythe and his dog Cara set

the world record for highest man-dog parachute deployment, jumping from

more than 30,100 feet up — the altitude transoceanic passenger jets fly at.

Both Forsythe and Cara were wearing oxygen masks and skin protectors for

the jump.

Here’s a photo from that jump, taken by Andy Anderson for K9 Storm Inc.

(more about those folks shortly).

As well, the dogs are faithful, fearless and ferocious — incredibly

frightening and efficient attackers.

I have seen it reported repeatedly that the teeth of SEAL war dogs are

replaced with titanium implants that are stronger, sharper and

scare-your-pants-off intimidating, but a U.S. Military spokesman has

denied that charge, so I really don’t know (never having seen a canine SEAL

face-to-face). I do know that I’ve never seen a photo of a war dog with

anything even vaguely resembling a set of shiny metal chompers.

When the SEAL DevGru team (usually known by its old designation, Team 6)

hit bin Laden’s Pakistan compound on May 2, Cairo’s feet would have been

four of the first on the ground.

And like the human SEALs, Cairo was wearing super-strong, flexible body

Armour and outfitted with high-tech equipment that included “doggles” —

specially designed and fitted dog googles with night-vision and infrared

capability that would even allow Cairo to see human heat forms through

concrete walls.

Now where on earth would anyone get that kind of incredibly niche hi-tech

doggie gear?

From Winnipeg, of all places.

Jim and Glori Slater’s Manitoba hi-tech mom-and-pop business, K9 Storm

Inc., has a deserved worldwide reputation for designing and manufacturing

probably the best body Armour available for police and military dogs.

Working dogs in 15 countries around the world are currently protected by

their K9 Storm body Armour.

Jim Slater was a canine handler on the Winnipeg Police Force when he

crafted a Kevlar protective jacket for his own dog, Olaf, in the mid-1990s.

Soon Slater was making body Armour for other cop dogs, then the Canadian

military and soon the world.

The standard K9 Storm vest also has a load-bearing harness system that

makes it ideal for tandem rappelling and parachuting.

And then there are the special hi-tech add-ons that made the K9 Storm

especially appealing to the U.S. Navy SEALs, who bought four of K9 Storm

Inc.’s top-end Intruder “canine tactical assault suits” last year for

$86,000. You can be sure Cairo was wearing one of those four suits when he

jumped into bin Laden’s lair.

Here’s an explanation of all the K9 Storm Intruder special features:

Just as the Navy SEALS and other elite special forces are the sharp point

of the American military machine, so too are their dogs at the top of a

canine military heirarchy.

In all, the U.S. military currently has about 2,800 active-duty dogs

deployed around the world, with roughly 600 now in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Here’s the link to a dandy photo essay about U.S. war dogs that just

appeared in the journal Foreign Policy.

Several of the photos I have included here are from Foreign Policy, as you

will see. Other photos are from K9 Storm Inc.

As for the ethics of sending dogs to war, that’s pretty much a moot point,

don’t you think? If it’s ethical to send humans into combat, then why not

dogs?

At least the U.S. now treats its war dogs as full members of the military.

At the end of the Vietnam War, the U.S. combat dogs there were designated

as “surplus military equipment” and left behind when American forces pulled

out.
